Indiana Mesonet Advisory Body

The purpose of the Indiana Mesonet Advisory Body (IMAB) is to provide strategic guidance and recommendations to the Director of the Indiana State Climate Office (IN-SCO) and to the directors of any other Indiana monitoring programs formally recognized and accepted by the IMAB. This advisory role encompasses the strategic development, advancement, and expansion of the Indiana Mesonet, including the integration of additional observing networks in accordance with its mission and these Bylaws. In carrying out its purpose, the IMAB shall contribute to ongoing strategic planning; identify opportunities that support public- and private-sector partnerships consistent with the Indiana Mesonet’s strategic plan; evaluate and advise on the formal recognition of other monitoring programs for inclusion in the statewide network; suggest potential funding sources and innovative applications of Mesonet data; collaborate with state officials to support statewide air and water inventory efforts; assess statewide monitoring gaps and recommend needed instrumentation; and promote ethical data stewardship, stakeholder collaboration, and continuous network improvement to enhance public benefit.
